If you are eligible, you will sign a consent form in the presence of a research nurse who will also be available to answer any questions you may have. You will then fill out a questionnaire and receive information about filling out your food diary using the online Automated Self-Administered (ASA) food questionnaire.
A clinician will take biological samples from you, including two oral, skin, and rectal samples. These samples will be used to identify yeast and characterize the composition of bacteria on your body. If you have a vaginal yeast infection, treatment will be offered as per the standard of care.
You will be shown how to take vaginal, rectal, skin, and oral self-swabs and be given a kit to take with you. At home, you will take two vaginal self-swabs three times a week (Monday-Wednesday-Friday) for four weeks. You also take each of two vaginal, rectal, oral, and skin swabs at the end of the month.
On the last day that you take self-swabs, you will bring the swabs back to the clinic. This marks the end of the study, and you will complete an exit questionnaire.
